our story
Another Plant Swap began during the Covid-19 lockdown, when the houseplant community was blooming online, but many of us were feeling lonely, disconnected and scared. Through Social Media, we found each other. We made friends, exchanged knowledge and supported one another from behind our screens.
So, when restrictions finally lifted, we knew exactly what we wanted to do: celebrate our new friendships in real life. What better way to reconnect than with a plant swap? An event made by plant lovers, for plant lovers; fun, friendly, sustainable and community driven.
Together, Emma (@goodgrowing) and I, Lisa (@happy_plant_collector), launched Another Plant Swap to bring people together through the joy of sharing plants. We were frustrated by rising plant prices and the waste building up in the hobby, so swapping felt like the perfect solution: a chance to rehome healthy, unwanted plants or cuttings and take home something new, all without spending a fortune.
Since then, we’ve hosted joyful, welcoming events across the UK and watched countless friendships grow, which was the best part of it.
As of 2025, Emma is off to new green adventures, and I’ve taken the reins solo, continuing our mission to make plant swapping a celebration of sustainability, connection, and joy.
